Computer Technician-

Assisted the Senior Network Engineer with a rollout of a 140-seat Windows NT network. Worked with NT Server, Exchange, Lotus Notes, and helped with Baan ERP implementation. Additionally, we upgraded the network backbone to 100MBps Ethernet, provided user training for Mac users moving to NT, and moved to a uniform software distribution for all users. Over winter break, implemented Microsoft's Systems Management Server, Compaq's Insight Manager, and NT4 SP4.

I run my own computer consultant company, which has provided services to Prodigy, among others. Primary work is writing web pages and providing Windows expertise.

Technical Assistant-

Helped maintain the school's primary computer lab, providing user support on a daily basis.

Internet Systems Manager-

Setup and ran the student email server and the school's webserver. Software used included SCO Unix, Linux, FreeBSD, and WebSTAR. Worked with academic departments to train faculty on writing web pages. Almost all departments and many clubs now have a presence on the school's web site.

Network Manager-

Worked with the school's network administrator on organizing and configuring a network, working with Novell NetWare. Designed fiber backbone layout including placement of switches as part of a move to a 100MBps backbone.

Summer Technician-

Worked two summers providing technical assistance. Configured Windows NT computers for lab use. Worked with the inventory control specialist on implementing new inventory procedures. Helped troubleshoot hardware and network problems, and troubleshooted software problems in the school's CAD lab.

For two years, ran web pages that provided a starting point for users looking for help with Windows related problems.

Moderate a weekly chat session, helping users with their Windows support questions.

Operating System Technical Beta Tester-

Test Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP. For the Windows 95 beta test, I was selected as one of the top testers and invited to attend the launch event in Redmond.

New Illustrated Information Finder Beta Tester-

Beta tested the CD-ROM edition of the World Book Encyclopedia. Also assisted a computer teacher in having the student body test the product in the school's library.
SKILLS
Experience with Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, MacOS 7.x, MacOS 8.x, Linux, SCO Unix. Strong troubleshooting skills on both Windows and Mac platforms.
Applications used include Microsoft Office, Lotus 1-2-3, WordPerfect, AutoCAD, WebSTAR.

ACTIVITIES
Krannert Center Student Association (KCSA)-

KCSA is a volunteer organization at the University of Illinois, supporting the performing arts center with ushers, tour guides, and technical staff. I served on the board for two years, running the organization's computer systems.

Lagniappe/Potpourri

Lagniappe/Potpourri is a student organization at New Trier High School responsible for an annual comedic show. For the 1996 school year, I served as Business Manager. Responsibilities included overseeing a budget in excess of $15,000, and processing ticket orders. For the 1997 school year, I was Co-Chairman, a management position overseeing the work of the Lagniappe/Potpourri Board and all staffs and crews. Almost 100 students are involved with the show on an annual basis.
